My grandparents came from Quebec…and another set came from Sherbrooke. Being young, I did not ask a lot of questions, how they came here or why…one grandfather was the cook in the lumber camps, the other came to work in the mill.
Hi, I was born in Tupper Lake , NY. The child of a French-Canadian lumberjack from St. Georges de Beauce , Quebec. He came to the states in the ’40’s, was drafted by the US after Pearl Harbor , came back to Lewiston , Me and eventually moved to Berlin, NH where he met his future wife, a Rousseau whose father was from Sorel, Quebec. We ended up in Syracuse, NY where my Dad worked on construction. I met the love of my life , a Choquette whose family came here from Laval(Montreal) Quebec. Good luck on this project.
My Memere originally came fro RI but met a man from Canada and they made their life in Upton, Quebec. My Mom came to the states for work in the mills and met my Dad and married. I have lots of info on my Dad’s family but not much on Mom’s. Never asked too many questions and now there’s no one to ask! Thank You for providing a way to look into my heritage.
Excellent Nicky!

I grew up in Van Buren, Maine. Some of my ancestors came from Québec and before that from France. Can’t wait to follow this website.
